Knitting can be a very relaxing hobby, and easily turned into an activity you can do with friends.  Kimberly Stewart, Rod Stewart’s daughter, has been known to host a knitting party or two of her own.  But she’s not the only celebrity that’s into knitting, and knitting isn’t just for women anymore either.  Interestingly enough men are taking up this hobby now too.  Tim Daley uses knitting as a stress reliever.

Another interesting aspect to knitting and celebrities is the fact that they’ve also been known to use this hobby as a way of giving back to their communities.  Knitting projects can very easily be donated to worthwhile charities.  Why not check it out for yourself?

The transition from playing in the rec league as the Foothill Blue Angels to becoming the new and improved CVU Lady Lions is quite a drastic change for all concerned.  It’s not only requiring a bit more strenuous workout for the lady’s, but it’s putting a financial strain on the parents as well.  Whoever imagined going from the Rec Soccer League up to Select would be such a drastic change financially?  First off, registration went up from $80.00 to $130.00, and uniforms went from $50.00 to $80.00.  Then if that’s not bad enough, now they’re wanting us to come up with about another $90.00 for warm-ups just so that everyone can look the same when going to tournaments.  And they also want us to purchase Nike Soccer Bags.  Is that really necessary at this point?  Shouldn’t getting the uniforms and registration paid be our first priority here?

Get real here for a moment…why is it so important to look like everyone else?  I thought that was what made our team stand out to start with.  The fact that we didn’t fit into just any kind of mold, we kind of set our own standards.  Why can’t we just make our own team wear?  Design another awesome sweatshirt with our new team logo on it and buy a pair of black sweats to go with it.  Then we can show up to tournaments and let them know who we really are…a one of kind, unique, well put together group of young ladies with an awesome group of parents backing them up!!  Not to mention, by making spirit wear we’ll be putting money back into our team versus putting money into CVU’s main distributor.  Are they possibly getting kick backs on the sales?  Something you should think about before you go out and buy the company line.

FaceBook has a variety of different types of online games you can play with your friends.  No matter what your tastes are, you’re bound to find something here.  My favorite game is Vampire Wars.  In this particle game, you get to make your own Vampire avatar that is to be used to do a variety of different missions in order to level up your character.  And one of the first things you’ll want to do is invite your friends to be in your clan because in this game you can also battle other online gamers’ character in the combat mode.  The stronger your clan is the better your luck will be at winning.  You even have the ability to kill other characters online.  This helps to boost your kill record.

Another advantage to having a large clan is that with certain special missions that come up it helps to have friends to help you complete these missions.  You can also request your clan members to help you out with individual missions, and they get rewarded for the effort.  Then you can also have your friends send you mission items that will help you accomplish your missions.  Certain missions require mission items that aren’t renewable & have to be re-gathered in order to do that mission again.  And you can also gift abilities you’ve acquired to help out fellow clan members!!  This game really is a blast!!  I’ve met a lot of really neat people while playing this game!!

Have you ever considered starting your own business?  Perhaps you are interested in buying properties you can use as rental properties.  If this is something you’d like to do, there are a few things you need to ask yourself first.  Such as, do you want to get into industrial/commercial properties or do you want to deal with strictly residential properties?  Both types of rentals can be very lucrative but the businesses will be run slightly different, and there will be different laws and properties codes for each type of property.  These are just a few of the things that you’ll need to look into before you start your new business.

You’ll find any number of excellent websites that can give you details about the various differences in these types of businesses.  But as with any business, doing your homework is the best way to avoid getting blind sided with out of pocket costs you weren’t expecting.  One rule of thumb is to always be sure to have keep accurate and updated documents on all your properties, and be sure that you have everything in writing.  This will save you a lot of work down the road.

Believe it not, today was the first day of school!!  My daughter just started 8th grade today and was really excited about seeing all her old friends again.  But she wasn’t so sure she was ready for the homework to start up again just yet.  Needless to say I have my daughter in a Charter School here, and they started off their first day back with 5 pages of homework.  What a way to start the year off!!  I don’t ever remember starting off the very first day of school with homework. 

My daughter and her friends are now the “Big Man on Campus” and they sure do love the chance to pick on the 7th graders this year.  Especially since her cousin Brannon just started there this year.  You know how family can be sometimes.  This is only the second time she’s actually had any family going to school with her.  She’s usually the only Litz on campus.

Cassidy’s first day back to school seemed to go along just swimmingly except for the new P.E. teacher.  She says she’s pretty mean, and she wishes Ms. Kinder were still there.  Just last year she told me nobody could be meaner than Ms. Kinder, and I told her I wouldn’t count on that.  Well, she just now found out that I do know what I’m talking about!!
